Drylining & Boarding, BH1 to BH10
Drylining a skim coat won’t betray. Bournemouth lofts, garages and stud walls boarded right.
Square joints, taped tight, screw heads set flush. Boards the skim goes onto first time, ready for the next trade by the date we agreed.
Get my itemised quoteBournemouth is full of spaces waiting to be finished
Half the lofts in Moordown and Kinson are being converted. Garages across Charminster and Winton are turning into home offices. Extensions in Southbourne and Pokesdown need boarding before the plasterer can skim. If you’re a Bournemouth builder running a renovation, or a homeowner adding space, plasterboard is where the interior starts.
Drylining isn’t glamorous work, but when the boards aren’t square, the joints aren’t taped properly and the screw heads sit proud, the skim coat shows every mistake. We board to a standard where the skim goes on right first time. Flat joints, clean corners, correct screw depth, right board for the job.
We’re not just boarders. We board and skim. One trade, one standard, one point of contact. That means fewer delays for the builder we’re working with, and no finger-pointing between subcontractors about whose work caused the problem. Most of our drylining work comes from small and medium Bournemouth builders who’d rather book one number than three.
For full details on our boarding services, see our drylining and plasterboarding page. Once boarded, every wall gets a finish skim. See our domestic plastering and skimming page for more. Builders working on larger projects can check our builder packages for trade rates.

Drylining services across Bournemouth
Every conversion type. Every board type. BH1 through BH10.
Loft Conversions
Insulation, vapour barrier, plasterboard and skim. Dormers, Velux conversions, hip-to-gable. We handle the angles and awkward spaces that come with every Bournemouth loft.
Garage Conversions
Stud walls, insulation, boarding and skim to turn a cold garage into a usable room. Common across Moordown, Kinson and Charminster where extra space beats moving house.
Extensions
Board and skim for single-storey, double-storey and wrap-around extensions. We coordinate with your builder so the plastering doesn’t hold up the programme.
Stud Walls & Room Dividers
Metal or timber stud framing, insulation where needed, plasterboard both sides and skim. Creating a new room or dividing an existing one.
Dot-and-Dab Wall Straightening
Plasterboard bonded to uneven masonry walls to create a flat, true surface. Faster and cheaper than replastering crooked walls. Common in Bournemouth’s older housing stock.
Fire & Acoustic Boarding
Fire-rated board for building regs compliance in conversions. Acoustic board for party walls and floors. We use the right specification, not just the cheapest board.

Bournemouth drylining FAQs
A typical Bournemouth loft conversion takes 3 to 5 days for boarding and skimming, depending on size and complexity. Dormer conversions with more angles and windows take longer than simple Velux conversions. We confirm the timeline at the quote stage.
Lead times in the BH postcodes run one to two weeks for most jobs and four to six weeks at peak (late spring, late summer, the run-up to Christmas). For single-room work or urgent plasterboarding we can often slot something in sooner. We give you an honest lead time at the quote stage, not after.
Yes, with the caveat that pre-1920s solid-wall properties usually need to breathe. Sticking plasterboard with adhesive against a solid Victorian brick wall in West Cliff or central Bournemouth traps moisture and causes damp years down the line. On those properties we recommend a battened or metal stud system that lets the masonry breathe, or refer to wet plaster for the original walls. We survey first and tell you which is appropriate before quoting.
All of them. BH1 through BH10. Southbourne, Winton, Moordown, Boscombe, Westbourne, Charminster, Pokesdown, Kinson, West Cliff and the town centre. We work in Bournemouth every week.
