Pearl Plastering

External Rendering, BH12 to BH17

Render systems that survive the Sandbanks salt and the Hamworthy harbour wind.

Silicone where the spray hits. Monocouche where Broadstone shelters. Sand and cement where the period frontage demands it. The right system for the street, not the easiest one for the van.

Poole properties take a beating from the coast

Render on a Sandbanks seafront home faces a different world to render on a Broadstone cul-de-sac. Salt spray corrodes cheaper systems within years. Driving rain finds every crack. Wind pulls at poorly bonded edges. The wrong render on a coastal Poole property doesn’t just fail. It traps water behind itself and damages the wall underneath, leaving the owner with a bigger bill than the original render cost.

We render across every Poole postcode, BH12 through BH17. That includes Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, Lilliput, Parkstone, Hamworthy, Canford Heath, Upton and Broadstone. For exposed coastal positions, we specify silicone render systems: water-repellent, flexible, self-cleaning. For sheltered inland properties, monocouche or traditional sand and cement can be the better value choice. We match the system to the location, not the other way round.

A lot of our Poole render work comes from small and medium Dorset builders adding render to whole-house renovations. Homeowners also book us direct for re-renders and pebble-dash removal. Same standard either way. We’re not the cheapest renderers in Poole. We are thorough. Cowboys leave you with hollow patches and blown render two winters in.

For full details on each render type, see our external rendering page. Many Poole rendering projects also include interior plastering. Our domestic plastering and skimming team handles the inside walls and ceilings so you don’t need a second trade. Check our areas we cover for the full Dorset map.

Sand render finish on a Poole property

Render systems for Poole’s climate

Four systems. Each suited to different levels of coastal exposure.

Silicone Render

The best choice for exposed Poole properties. Water-repellent, flexible, self-cleaning and maintenance-free for 25+ years. Ideal for Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, Hamworthy and any property facing the harbour or sea.

Monocouche

Single-coat system with colour built in. No painting needed. Good for sheltered Poole locations: Broadstone, Canford Heath, Upton. Faster to apply, lower cost than silicone.

Sand & Cement

Traditional two-coat system. Versatile and proven. Needs painting every 5 to 10 years. Works well on solid masonry and period properties where you want to maintain a traditional look.

EWI Systems

External wall insulation with a render top coat. Improves thermal performance while transforming the exterior. Particularly effective on solid-walled 1930s to 1960s Poole semis with no cavity.

Poole rendering FAQs

Silicone render. It repels water instead of absorbing it, flexes with thermal movement instead of cracking, and its self-cleaning surface resists algae and salt deposits. For exposed positions in Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs and Hamworthy, silicone is the system we recommend most.

Silicone render lasts 25+ years, even in exposed positions. Monocouche lasts 25 to 30 years in sheltered spots. Sand and cement render lasts 20 to 30 years but needs repainting every 5 to 10 years. The key is correct specification and proper surface preparation.

Often, yes. If the pebble-dash is well bonded, we can apply a new render system over it after preparation. If it’s hollow or loose, we hack it off and start fresh. We check during the free survey. No guesswork.

Usually not. Rendering falls under permitted development. But if your property is in a conservation area (parts of Canford Cliffs, Lilliput, or the old town) or is a listed building, you may need BCP Council approval before changing the exterior. We recommend checking before work starts.
