Silicone Rendering in Bournemouth, Poole and the Dorset Coast.
Render that cleans itself in the rain. K-Rend and Weber silicone systems on coastal builds and refurbs across Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs and the wider BH postcodes. Salt air, driving rain, south-facing walls heating and cooling daily. It doesn’t crack, and you never lift a paintbrush.
Why Silicone Render Suits Coastal Dorset
Salt air, driving rain, 60 mph gusts off the Channel. Bournemouth and Poole properties take a beating from the weather. Sand and cement render handles it, but it cracks over time, traps moisture, and needs repainting every few years. Monocouche is better, but still absorbs more water than ideal in exposed spots.
Silicone render is different. It is water-repellent but breathable. Rain hits the surface and rolls off, but moisture vapour from inside the wall can still escape. That means no trapped damp. It is also flexible enough to absorb minor thermal movement without cracking, which matters on south-facing walls that heat up in summer and cool fast at night.
The self-cleaning surface is not marketing fluff. Dirt particles sit on top of the silicone rather than bonding to it. When it rains, the water sheets off and takes the dirt with it. After five years, a silicone-rendered property still looks like it was done last month. A sand and cement property does not.
It Costs More Upfront, And Saves Money Over 20 Years
We are not going to pretend silicone render is cheap. It costs more than monocouche or sand and cement. But it never needs painting, that is two or three rounds of scaffolding and masonry paint you never pay for. Over a 25-year lifespan, most homeowners come out ahead.
We install K-Rend and Weber silicone systems, both manufacturer-approved. Hundreds of colours available, with custom matching if you need it. For a full overview of all our render options, see our external rendering page. We cover the whole of Dorset, check our areas page for details.

How silicone compares
Three render systems side by side, so you can see why silicone wins on the coast.
Silicone Render
- Self-cleaning surface
- Water-repellent but breathable
- Flexible, resists cracking
- 25 to 30 year lifespan
- Never needs painting
- Hundreds of colours
Monocouche

Silicone Rendering FAQs
Silicone render has an expected lifespan of 25 to 30 years with virtually no maintenance. The self-cleaning surface sheds dirt with rainwater, so it stays looking fresh far longer than sand and cement or monocouche alternatives.
Monocouche is a single-coat render applied directly to masonry. Faster and more affordable. Silicone render is a thin top coat applied over a base coat system. It is more flexible, more weather-resistant, and has a self-cleaning surface. For coastal Dorset properties exposed to salt and driving rain, silicone is usually the better long-term choice.
It depends on the condition of the existing render. If the existing surface is sound, well bonded and stable, a silicone system can go over the top with the right preparation. If the existing render is cracking or debonding, it needs removing first. We assess this during the survey.
K-Rend and Weber both offer hundreds of standard colours, and custom colour matching is available. The colour runs through the entire product so it never needs painting. We bring colour charts to every survey so you can see real samples against your property.
